Las Tres Madres

by Dion

The Women I Have Loved
All the women I ever loved - I learned from them and they inspired me - to write poetry.
So no matter what pain I caused or experienced - loving them was not a waste.
For in us touching I knew joy and divine ecstasy also.
{In our touching}
I hope they see more of the beauty of others and of their own souls.
{In touching others and themselves}
I hope they know [parted from me] more beauty on this Earth and in the Universe.

The Three Stars

Alnitak - Alnilam - Mintaka

There are three stars in the night sky that my friend reminded me of

Sometimes they are named:

Orion’s Belt, the Three Magi, the Three Wise Men, the Three Kings,

Las Tres Madres, the Three Marys, the Three Sisters or the Three Stars

I know them and invoke them as

Alnitak - Alnilam – Mintaka

They are called by many other names

Many through out history have gazed upon them

I also look for them because we are all of the stars

For since we first looked up between the leaves

Since we first descended the trees

Since we first built towers to ascend again

We have looked to the stars to become of the stars once more

I look for certain stars in my life now and always

There are three stars in the night sky that my friend prays to

She named them: The Three Mothers - Las Tres Madres - for her three mothers of this Earth that she lost

For the three that each began to nurture her – each time - she as their daughter

She lost them all - their lives cut short before their time

The first was her birth mother who she lost as she was being born

{All lost - all is lost in the loneliness of never being held or knowing each other}

The second was her stepmother of childhood who she lost before she was grown.

{All lost – all is lost in the despair of this one’s inward anger and suicide}

The third was her stepmother of adulthood who she lost as she struggled on in her life

{All lost - all is lost in the pain of watching a body withering and being eaten by cancer}

{Lost – lost – forever lost in a life of again and again losing many bodies and moments of love}

There are three stars in the night sky that now also I beckon to

They are three stars in a row – brightest in the sky

that rise in the east in the evening

that set in the west at the dawn

They follow and search for the light of the sun

As I also search for and wish to join with the all Light

These three stars show me the way to the seat of my soul

To the resting place of all souls

These three stars in the night sky remind me of my lost friend Jennie

Of all she has ever lost and created anew

Of all the pain and beauty – of all of what she is and has become

Of all that everyone has ever lost and of what everyone is becoming.

Reaching for and within these three stars, I find pain and suffering being overcome by joy and love

Thank you my friend Jennie for showing me the way to these stars

The Women I Have Loved

Muses

What - am I - [a] musing?

Alnitak - Alnilam - Mintaka are the Arabic names for the three brightest stars of the Belt of Orion.

Jennie was a girl friend - when I lived in Arcata.

                     She told me of three stars - the stars that she looks to whenever she is suffering.

I told her the names of those stars and that they are in the belt of Orion.

I wrote her a poem of these stars.

I cry when I think of the harm that has been caused and that I have caused - to Jennie.

I smile when I think of her and her boys' happiness

Somewhere on this Earth they all being loved.

After the body of a star dies the light emanates on.

After human bodies part the love emanates on.

Light and love follow the same pathways.

We embrace and sing across great distances forever.
