I Was Asked

by Dion

Once I asked permission of a pregnant woman who was a stranger

and she let me place my open hand on her belly and I said:

"Hi little baby - I am so glad you are coming into the world.”

Whenever I see a pregnant women I softly or silently say to the baby:

"thank you for coming into the world" and I say other words of encouragement.

I was asked:

Why do you speak to babies when they are still in their wombs and say these things?

I answered: Because babies are a gift of themselves to the world and I was taught to say thank you. Because adults hurt me physically and emotionally when I was born and when I was a child and the best way to heal those adults and myself is to forgive them and myself and to observe my feelings and reactions today in relation to my early imprinting and to choose today not to be a perpetrator or victim and choose to be kind - which is both to stick up for others and myself and to choose life and to love all children and acknowledge to them directly their precious beauty especially as they are first coming to life into the world.
